We are slowly getting to know the people. I noticed they have a link here... have to check it out.
I'm very new to this and I am also just getting a blog going so if you can find it, I am going to be sharing my testimony with it. We're also on activerain, a real estate related blog, but I use it to praise the Lord more than anything. Good to get to know more people in the Kingdom.
Later, blessings and more blessings,
Bobrobbobhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08341536861626900342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-139676684011582364.post-9823037435937810902008-09-02T16:54:00.000-04:002008-09-02T16:54:00.000-04:00Wow, RobBob great to hear from you! I really think everyone should hear Heidi at least once and let her passion, joy, realness and love for God just rub off at least a little!!!lydiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01495924200222561417noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-139676684011582364.post-17301626451742577232008-08-13T10:56:00.000-04:002008-08-13T10:56:00.000-04:00Lydia, No wonder you were touched -- this sounds l...Lydia, No wonder you were touched -- this sounds like a typical Heidi Baker ministry session! :-)

The joy, love and presence of God just oozes out of this dear woman, as she describes her experiences and what God teaches her, and challenges her to do for him.

A couple of years ago she admitted that she and Rolland had to move to a house away from their ministry center, just to be able to spend uninterrupted time with God and with each other. She so loves the children that her first inclination is to be with them 24/7 - but God had to remind her that he himself is her first love, and that he - and Rolland - need to come before her ministry.

Having heard Heidi minister several times, and having read her books and seen the documentary video of her ministry, I can imagine it must have been difficult to make that change, even though it would mean more "refreshing" time for her. She just loves the kids so very much, seeing Jesus in each one of their faces.

If I can blather on for a moment, that reminds me of something I heard Gwen Shaw say at a conference (she's devoted her life to interceding for, and supporting Spirit-filled missionaries worldwide. She was a missionary herself for many years.

She was speaking to a gathering of her End-Times Handmaidens missionaries, who had come from all over the world for this conference. She was describing a trip she & her husband had taken to Morocco or Algeria, to teach some of her missionary friends, and mentioned in passing an afternoon spent shopping at a local bazaar.

She suddenly stopped speaking, looked at the audience and said humorously, "You know, if you do this church-stuff all the time, it'll drive you crazy!"

Coming from someone who has devoted her entire life to the Lord's work, I thought that was real wisdom.

Heidi Baker made similar comments a few years ago, trying to describe how the Lord was teaching her that she had to enjoy the life God was giving her, and not constantly be doing ministry work out of guilt over the lost going to hell, or driven-ness (ministering from a wrong attitude of oneself or God).

Heidi said that her husband took her to see a famous prophetic guy, who Rolland was sure would have a word for Heidi. She said she didn't want to do this, but did anyway, and after traveling from Mozambique to the USA, sat down & waited for the great word from God. The guy looked at her for a while, pointed to a plate of cookies, and said, "have a cookie!"

She ate a cookie, feeling really stupid and wondering what this was all about. Then he said, "Have another cookie!"

There was more to the meeting than just this, but Heidi described how powerfully that simple thing spoke to her: God was telling her that it was all right for her to enjoy a cookie - to enjoy life as well as do ministry - even though there is such poverty and need in Mozambique and around the world. She realized that God's will was not for her to burn herself out in any ministry work (which she had done before, in the 90s), but that her first priority was her relationship with him.

Now, most Christians don't need to hear this, but many Christian workers and leaders certainly do need to hear this, and take it to heart.Donnoreply@blogger.com
