The Shack

Well, I finally jumped on the bandwagon and read "The Shack." I am grateful to William Young for writing this unique and heart penetrating book. If you haven't read it yet, go for it! Despite the book's many critics and critiques, of the theology behind it, I think William Young understands something of the Father's heart of love. That is more important than arguing theology. Nothing compares to God's love!! So go ahead, take off your skeptic cap and let yourself be enveloped by the true purpose of this book. Much grace and peace to all!!!

"An infinite God can give all of Himself to each of His children. He does not distribute Himself that each may have a part, but to each one He gives all of Himself as fully as if there were no others." - A.W. Tozer

"Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal." - Author Unknown

"Faith never knows where it is being led, but it knows and loves the One who is leading." - Oswald Chambers

Hey, you beat me to it! I've been meaning to pick it up lately, still looking around for it.

Lydia,

One of my favorite book! It made me cry in the beginning (I too have a daughter and couldn't imagine losing her like Mack did in the story).

It goes beyond dead religion and shows us the heart of God. Like you said, I wouldn't worry about some theological indifferences people argue on, after all want to draw theology from a fictional work? I think the author's intention was to show us a picture of God beyond what has been portrayed for centuries by religion and I think he succeeded in that.

Julie,
Yup, it's your turn, heehee, did you try the library??

Bino,
It sure did succeed in showing such a wonderful picture of God, that this culture and this day and age so desperately need to get a hold of!!! Yes and it is especially touching to those who are parents!! It was so worth reading!! I do hope they make it into a movie!!!

I just loved it - especially how the family relationships were so integral to the entire story. This is one thing people today need to know: that God moves powerfully through family ties and the bonds of love.

A second message is that the image of God as a loving father has been deliberately and savagely attacked by the enemy, so people will doubt God's love, care and desire for them to grow and reach the destiny he has designed them for.

You are right. The message of God as a loving Father has been attacked - that is why I appreciate this book, giving back to people, in a way, most preaching can't do, a real sense of His love - I do pray this book really opens hearts.
I also appreciated seeing such a great picture of the verse, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds their wounds" - the way that Papa, Jesus and Saryu worked together to restore and heal Mack was amazing to me. I was also blessed by the extent to which they went, even down to all the finer details and also how it showed God working all things together for good. Awesome!!
